Among the family papers I inherited from my grandparents is an album with postcards of Dutch churches, collected by my grandfather. Most of the cards are from the 1930s. I will use this album for a new series, Church Sunday. Starting next week, I will post an image of a Dutch church on Sundays, usually from this collection.
Most churches don’t have a direct connection with my ancestry (other than that my grandfather had a postcard of it in his collection, and in many cases paid a visit), but since most of my ancestors were protestant, and many went to church on Sunday morning, there will be a few churches that were regularly visited by my ancestors.
Church Sunday starts next week with the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in my grandfather’s home town Hilversum.
