Death certificate of Barbera Theresia van Cauwenberge

Death certificate of Barbera Theresia van Cauwenberge, my 3rd great-grandmother. Her death was registered by her son-in-law Carel de Wandel (Carolus Franciscus de Wandel in full, husband of Bernardina Coppens) and someone I don’t know, Pieter Francies Heijndrickx. Strangely enough, the name on the death certificate was Maria Theresia, not Barbera Theresia as it should be. Did her family not know her name? It’s possible, in 1868 a granddaughter was named after her – Maria Theresia Barbera. That suggests that there was at least some confusion in the family about her actual name. I don’t think any of her descendants was named Barbera Theresia, while Maria Theresia is still used in the family now.

An extract of the death certificate: On the seventh of the month May of the year 1859, in this municipality [Aardenburg], at seven in the morning, passed away Maria Theresia van Cauwenberghe, 62, born in Sint Margriete [Belgium], occupation laboring woman, resident of Aardenburg, widow of Hendricus Coppens, deceased in Aardenburg.
