Tombstone Tuesday: Greater love hath no man

Cemetery of Oud-Zuilen

“Greater love hath no man”, Epitaph, Cemetery of Oud-Zuilen

The inscription on the grave (in Dutch, translation below):

Hier rust onze lieve zoon, broeder en verloofde Henny Knipschild 20-4-'14 27-9-'44 Niemand heeft meerder liefde dan deze, dat iemand zijn leven zette voor zijne vrienden. Joh. 15:13

English translation:

Here rests our dear son, brother and fiancé Henny Knipschild 20 April [19]14 - 27 September [19]44 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

On the website of the war grave foundation I read: Knipschild, Hendrik Augustinus, was born on 20 April 1914 in Utrecht, and died 27 September 1944 in Utrecht. He was a member of the resistance movement, and is buried Oud Zuilen cemetery.
