Theodorus Pardoen, son of Adrianus Pardoen and Margrita Frederika van Oeveren, was born 28 August 1827 in The Hague (or Den Haag, as it is known in Dutch). He died on 30 August 1872 in The Hague. Theodorus married Sara Catharina Springvelt, daughter of Joannes Springveld and Jannetje van der Waals, on 22 September 1852 in The Hague. Sara Catharina was born on 19 December 1828 in Leiden, and died on 20 January 1893 in The Hague. Theodorus Pardoen and Sara Catharina Springvelt are my 3rd great-grandparents. The couple had eight children, three...

Birth certificate of Theodorus Johannes Adrianus Pardoen

I found the birth certificate of my great-grandfather Theodorus Johannes Adrianus Pardoen (ahnentafel number 12) on FamilySearch.org. A summary: On 22 January 1881, Theodorus Joannes Gerardus Pardoen, constable, from Soest, appeared for the registrar of Soest and declared that his wife Aaltje Sophia van der Hoogt gave birth to a baby boy, on 22 January at 4 am, to whom he gave the names Theodorus Johannes Adrianus. The witnesses were officials who worked at the town hall, and (probably) not related. Constable Pardoen lived in Soest for only a...

At the time this postcard was sent (in 1909) there was a dense network of tramlines in The Netherlands. The trams mostly disappeared now, except in the main cities: if you have visited Amsterdam,...

The challenge for Randy’s Saturday Night Genealogy Fun is to list 16 great-great-grandparents: List your 16 great-great-grandparents in pedigree chart order. List their birth and death years and places. Figure out the dominant ethnicity or nationality of each of them. Calculate your ancestral ethnicity or nationality by adding them up for the 16 – 6.25% for each (obviously, this is approximate). If you don’t know all 16 of your great-great-grandparents, then do it for the last full generation you have. Write your own blog...
