Former first lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, who has her roots in Tacloban City, had a small palace built, for herself and for her husband, President Marcos. The palace was built, but she never got the chance to use it. When Marcos was ousted, the palace was opened to the public, under the name Santo Niño Shrine and Heritage Museum.
When I was in Tacloban City I had a look around. A beautiful palace, but deteriorating – apparently there are insufficient funds for maintenance.
