Staal family grave, cemetery of Lage Vuursche
A family grave of an apparently well to do family on the cemetery of Lage Vuursche. The (translated) inscription:
Jan Anthonie Staal, born 28 June 1798, died 20 October 1884. And his spouse Jacoba Tannetje van Steenbergen, born 14 September 1807, died 15 July 1890. Sophia Hendrika Staal, born 18 October 1839, died 15 January 1915.
A couple and their unmarried daughter, it seems, and a quick search in the major genealogical databases confirms that:
Jan Anthonie Staal, son of Jacob Staal and Sophia Methorst, was born on 29 June 1798 in De Vuursche (and baptized on 8 July 1798) and died on 20 October 1884 in Soest. Note that de birth date on the stone seems to be a day off.
He married Jacoba Jannetje van Steenbergen, daughter of Nicolaas van Steenbergen and Anna Wilhelmina van Slijpe, on 25 April 1835 in De Vuursche. She was born on 14 September 1807 in Goudriaan, and died on 15 July 1890 in Soest.
They had several children. One of them, Sophia Hendrika Staal, was born on 18 October 1838 in Soest, and died on 15 January 1915 in Soest. The birth date on the stone seems to be a year off.
