It’s not just the leaves that turn gold in October. Look at the grass along the stream in this field! It had a magical golden hue. I passed it while hiking in the Utrecht region (looking for autumn colors to photograph), not too far from my home.

I think this is giant hogweed – flowers taller than me. Not too suitable to bring home as a bouquet, I guess: Who has vases big enough to hold them? I found these near Utrecht, along the banks of a small canal.
A few photos of thistles I took during a hike last month. The flowers were still in full, purple bloom. Right now there are still some thistle flowers around, but most of them have seedheads now – I’ll have a few photos of those soon.
