During one of my hikes in the Utrecht region I came across this small lake (or big pond?) named Nedereindse Plas, just outside Utrecht City, on the border of the towns Nieuwegein and IJsselstein. It looks tranquil, but it’s treacherous: The soil is covered with rubble, and the water is heavily contaminated. Swimming and water-based activities are strictly forbidden here!
The area is great for walking, jogging and cycling, though, and it’s a popular destination for dog owners from IJsselstein.
