When I visited the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse a few years ago, I was surprised to find several paintings of my home town, The Hague, by a painter I did not know until then: Anthony Jansz van der Croos.
Anthony Jansz van der Croos (c.1606-c.1662) lived and worked in The Hague and (for a short time) Alkmaar. He was a pupil of Jan van Goyen. Van der Croos painted mostly landscapes.
