Among the family papers in my possession is an album with postcards of Dutch churches, collected by my grandfather. Most of the cards are from the 1930s. On Sundays, I post cards from this collection in the series Church Sunday. Today: The Westerkerk in Enkhuizen.

The Westerkerk, also known as the Saint Gommarus church, was built in the late 15th century. It replaced an older church at the same place. After the reformation it became a protestant church. Nowadays the church is used as a cultural center, for concerts and exhibitions, and for weddings.

The postcard shows the interior of the Westerkerk, with the 1567 pulpit on the right, and the 16th century choir screen.
