Southern Reading Challenge

Southern Reading Challenge

August was for me the month of the Southern reading challenge: With a bottle of Southern Comfort, a large box of Southern pecans and three books I enjoyed a month of Southern literature.

The masterpieces I read:

  1. The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain. This novel has been on my to-be-read list ever since high school (and I can assure you that is quite a while ago).
  2. To kill a mockingbird, by Harper Lee. By far the most enjoyable read of the three, a true masterpiece.
  3. As I lay dying, by William Faulkner. Less accessible than the other two, it probably needs a second reading to fully appreciate it.

It has been an enjoyable challenge, reading some great literature that provided me with a glimpse of southern life in times go by. Thank you Maggie for hosting this challenge and for supplying the pecans!
